The Commonwealth of Kentucky is one of the most popular states to visit in the US. If you are looking for fun, adventure, and a unique and one of a kind experience, this is the state that you should visit. One popular Kentucky destination is Bardstown.

You may think that Bourbon Country and Bardstown are places that you normally would pass by when you visit Kentucky, but it?s really not. This is the type of place where you will want to stop and experience what it has to offer. There are so many things to see here as well as experience.

If you ever go to Bardstown, there are five activities or attractions that you should consider doing.

The first is that you should visit a distillery or two. Of course, everybody knows that going to Bourbon Country means that you will see a lot of distilleries. In fact, there are quite a few distilleries that are located within minutes of Bardstown, which includes the world famous Jim Beam and Maker?s Mark Distilleries. Here, you will be able to learn how bourbon is made and also sample the goods at the end. Not only that you will be able to learn how bourbon is made, but you also get a free taste as well. Just be careful not to taste so many during your visit or you might end up drunk.

The Old Talbott Tavern is another place that you should visit when you are around Bardstown. This historic inn is located right in the Courthouse Square and it serves as a restaurant as well as a hotel and bed and breakfast. Historically, Talbott Tavern is rich in history and has a very colorful past. In fact, you may even see bullet holes in some of the faded paintings and the establishment claims that Jesse James was responsible for them.

Some people even claim that the inn is haunted. Who knows? Maybe you?ll be lucky enough to encounter Jesse James during your bedtime.

The third attraction that you should definitely visit in Bardstown is the Courthouse Square and Downtown Area. Bardstown is a place that is full of history. Everywhere you go, you will see history. From the old buildings, to whole villages, to history plaques, you will find that Bardstown is really a fun place to be in.

If you have time, try dining at the drugstore that still has an authentic lunch counter that is located just across the Old Talbott Tavern. However, you may want to keep in mind that this is a very popularplace to eat and you may wait for hours in order to get a seat. But, once you experience the food here, the wait is definitely worth it.

The Kentucky Railway Museum is another great place to visit. Here, you will see a huge collection of old engines and cars. You will see what ruled the west during the days of cowboys. And, you can also take a ride through the scenic Rolling For River on a dinner train where you will be able to enjoy great scenery while you eat.

Lastly, you may want to visit the Abbey of Gethsemani. Here, you will see displays and video presentation about monastery life. There are also gift shops where you can buy Gethsemani Farms products. Filled with rich history, you will see that this abbey still operates and are still run by real Trappist monks.

There is so much to do in Bardstown. These five places and attractions to visit are just a taste of what you can see and do here. If you love history and you want to experience something different from your trips, Bardstown, Kentucky is definitely the place for you.
