We look at the top five activity holiday options in this installment of our activity holidays guide.

There are different types of activity holidays that can fit almost everyone’s needs. There is bicycling, winter-time, wilderness, special interest, and of course thrill-seeking.

Climb rocks, go white water rafting, and cave exploring, these are included the popular thrill seeking trips. There are plenty of multi-activity holidays where you can spend a day or two doing each until moving on or you can just stick with one. Go out and experience exciting new things and challenge yourself, this is the ideal way.

Have a great adventure by going into various locales like jungles, deserts, plateaus, mountains and tundra with our great wilderness holidays. All seven continents can be visited, with the Sahara, Namib and Gobi deserts, the jungles of South and Central America, Northern India and Central Africa, the great mountain ranges of The Andes, Alps, Atlas, Himalaya and Rockies, the Tibetan plateau, the Antarctic and the Outback of Australia, being popular with adventurous travelers. These trips can make you use a wide variety of skills learned in survival classes or even from just from other experiences.

Winter activities include skiing (downhill and cross-country) and snowboarding, and also more untried activities such as snowmobiling and dogsledding. You will need to find open and free areas in order to do the two latter activities unlike skiing which will be done on a resort or mountain.

Go biking in the mountains on great expeditions, or perhaps a gentle flat area is more to your liking, both are possible on bike holidays. The website and brochure tend to grade the trips depending on just how tough they might be based on if you go off-roading or stay on vehicle supported areas.

There are also special types of holidays with various activities for those with special interests. Learn new languages, experience photography, delve into yoga, explore archaeology and conservation. You’ll have an expert in the subject to guide you throughout your trip and will be greatly improved at your chosen subject by the end of it.
