There are many pizzerias all through out New York. Some of them have fantastic pizza and some have not fantastic pizza. It is hard to describe what fantastic pizza is, since it is different for everyone. For some people, including myself, a great piece of pizza is one that you bite into and taste the spices. You can tell it is made with only the freshest ingredients and not a lot of oil. Other people like the pizzas that come with the thick doughy crust and others love the pizza from the chains.

One of the must eat pizza places that you should go to on your quest for the best pizza in New York is Grimaldi’s pizza. Its original location is in Brooklyn NY right under the Brooklyn Bridge. Grimaldi’s is well known for using fresh ingredients, and a great oven. They make their dough daily and make their sauce daily too. Grimaldi’s also knows that in order to make a great pizza you have to have a great coal fired brick oven. They bake their pizza at 850F which gives their crust the right amount of crispness and smokiness. Grimaldi’s had become so popular that they opened up a second shop right in Hoboken NJ. Read more

When you think about free things to do in New York, you might not have a clue what to do. A walk in Central Park is free as well is the Staten Island Ferry ride. A tour around Grand Central Station will give you an idea of the many different people that pass through the gates on their ways to other areas of New York. There are free concerts in the parks of New York or you can take walk through the Botanical Gardens. The thing about New York is you walk anywhere and have a great time looking in the shop windows or sit on a bench and watch the people walking from place to place never really seeming to go anywhere.

On Saturdays, you can go to Brooklyn Academy of Music and enjoy a day of listening to jazz music or take in the Brooklyn Museum for a look at ancient artifacts of Egypt. If you are looking for free things to do in New York, you will enjoy the blues music at B.B. King Blues Club and Grill or even watch some local artist do some sculptures in Socrates Sculpture Park. You might even see a basketball star when you visit the NBA Store for a little window-shopping. If you love the beautiful gardens, the Cathedral Church has some beautiful grounds with so many different flowers or the St Patrick’s Cathedral for its Gothic appeal.

If you are looking for free things to do in New York, find a neighborhood that you might want to tour and ask for a Big Apple Greeter who will gladly show you around the neighborhood and point out things of interest. They take you to ever corner of the neighborhood and give you a free guided tour. You can ask for a tour in any neighborhood and have a great day learning about how people live and work as well as how the people enjoy their time.

The parks of the area are free to explore and offer so many different things to see and do. Clay Pit Ponds State Park Preserve is one place to take the family for a day of fun. Take a nature walk, see some of Indian artifacts, and see what they do to help the eco system around the area. Do some fishing in Central Park at Harlem Meer Pond for the day and take a picnic lunch along. During the months when the weather is nice, you can find free entertainment in the park as well.

If you need more free things to do in New York, you might check out the Jones Beach State Park or the Bryant Park for some free concerts. If you like to do some kayaking, visit Riverside Park where you can use a kayak to glide around the park. If you would like something historical, Castle Clinton National Monument is a place to learn about the history of the military. With all these free things to do in New York, you will not have to worry about having any money to have fun.
